Doma

There is nothing better than having a terrific restaurant a stones throw from your door. If you love Japanese and Korean cuisine, especially sushi and maki, then you have to try Doma. We are so lucky that it takes all of one minute to walk to this wonderful BYOB restaurant. Super friendly service, fantastic food and reasonable prices makes this one of our favorite Asian restaurants.

When you first walk in, you’ll see that the restaurant isn’t very big and it’s decorated very nicely. We were seated immediately and began looking through their extensive menu. The choices are endless and everything we’ve tried so far has been outstanding. We’ve yet to have a bad meal here.

On one of our recent visits, we ordered the hamachi crudo, which was sliced yellowtail fish, fresh jalapeno, cilantro and yuzu, the spicy pork gyoza, which was pan fried pork dumplings served over spicy Asian slaw as our appetizers. Both were fantastic.

For our entrée, we ordered three signature rolls, the triple spicy double tuna, the spring garden and the rachel. All were delicious! The triple spicy double tuna roll consisted of tuna, spicy sauce, siracha, tempura crunch, scallions, seared albacore, sichimi pepper and a sweet glaze. The spring garden had cooked shrimp, avocado, cucumber, spring mix, wasabi mayo and masago. And the Rachel had smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado, lightly battered topped with tobiko.

To finish off our wonderful meal this evening, we split a wonderful chocolate lava cake with a red bean ice cream. Yes, red bean ice cream! It tasted a bit like bubblegum but it wasn’t overly sweet. It too was delicious.

We were back again about a week later because we had to try their bibimbap. When we were their the first time, a table near us had ordered it and it smelled so good! We had to try it. We ordered the beef and egg yolk bibimbap. It’s assorted seasoned vegetables and spicy kochujang sauce served over a bed of rice. It was amazing! We also ordered the miso soup, seaweed salad and baby octopus salad. It was a wonderful meal! Everything was delicious.

If you are in the art museum area, stop by Doma which is located on Callowhill Street. The food is amazing, the prices are extremely reasonable and the employees are so friendly.
