A night of Jewels!

Two wonderful Philadelphia institutions have joined together for a wonderful cultural event. Lagos Fine Jewelers and the Pennsylvania Ballet have teamed up to bring you George Balanchine’s only evening-length work without a story, Jewels, at the Academy of Music from May 10-13. Balanchine’s visits to a couple of famed jewelers is the inspiration for this work. There are three movements to highlight three facets of his life, the romantic French flair and elegance of emeralds, the jazzy American allure of rubies, and the pure Russian pomp and splendor of diamonds.

The Lagos flagship store hosted an intimate in-store meet and greet featuring Pennsylvania Ballet Dancer Yuka Iseda to promote the upcoming ballet. Miss Iseda was in a ballerina custom and wore several beautiful pieces of jewelry from the Lagos collection. It was great talking with her and finding out more about her background. Originally from Tokyo, she began dancing at the age of five. She has been with the Pennsylvania Ballet for about two years and loves it here in Philadelphia. She will be dancing in Jewels in the first movement, emeralds.

Tonight, customers could come in and browse the incredible selection of jewelry at the Lagos store while sipping on a glass of champagne, prosecco or rose wine and taste some wonderful macaroons from Brûlée Catering. Lagos store manager Janice Waitkus was extremely friendly and polite throughout the entire evening. She and the entire staff always go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcomed in the store. Their knowledge of every single piece of jewelry in the Lagos collection is amazing. They truly love their jobs and it shows in the passion they exude.

Bravo to Lagos and the Pennsylvania Ballet for teaming up and getting ready for this much eagerly anticipated ballet. If you haven’t been to Lagos, stop by sometime. It’s located right across the street from Rittenhouse Square. Go on in, browse and buy something for yourself or a loved one. And if you haven’t been to a performance of the Pennsylvania Ballet, you don’t know what you are missing. They are one of the premier ballet companies in the country. We are so lucky to have them in Philadelphia.
