Since Philadelphia Wine Week 2017, the Rittenhouse Hotel has been home to many wine events. This includes blind tastings and food and wine parings. We’ve been to both! We’ve also stopped in for a late night snack or dinner, and have also just stopped in just to unwind and have a cocktail or glass of wine. The service has always been impeccable and the food and drinks have always been perfect. The Rittenhouse defines elegance. It’s no wonder that they are consistently ranked as one of the best hotels in the city.
The hardest decision when coming to the Rittenhouse Hotel is where to go to! There is the Library Bar, located on the first floor, or Bar 210, located on the second floor, with the fantastic adjacent restaurant, Lacroix, located with Bar 210 . You can’t go wrong with either. The Library Bar hosts jazz nights on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s cozy, intimate and you just lose yourself in the surroundings and music. As perfect as the Library Bar is, we actually prefer Bar 210 for several reasons, the biggest one being the fantastic bartender, Amy.
Amy is perhaps our favorite bartender. She is so incredibly friendly and makes you feel right at home. And when it comes to mixing cocktails, she knocks it out of the park! One of my favorites is a Cosmopolitan and Eric’s is an Old Fashioned but with rye instead of bourbon. We’ve tried many versions of these drinks and some have been really good, but no one makes them as good as Amy. She also comes up with new cocktails to feature when the seasonal food menu changes. The hardest part is figuring out which one to try because you’ll want to try them all.
If you are hungry, don’t worry, Bar 210 has you covered. They have a wonderful menu with everything from appetizers and salads to soups and sandwiches. We’ve never had a bad meal here. Everything is made to order and is absolutely delicious. Some of our past favorites have been the classic grilled cheese with tomato soup, pappardelle bolognese, and their hamburger. Words can’t describe how delicious each dish was when we ordered it. Their cheeseburger, which we’ve ordered several times, is one of the best in the city. It’s made with black angus beef, smoked bacon, cabot cheddar cheese, cherry pepper condiment and truffle fries on the side. Order that with one of Amy’s perfect cocktails and you are set!
When we walk into the Rittenhouse, it’s like stepping into another world. All our troubles are left at the door and we’re swept away by the elegance, top notch service, and fantastic food and drinks. If you like that sort of thing, then the Rittenhouse is definitely for you.
