On our last day in Key West, Florida, before coming home to Philadelphia and mere hours before departing to Greece, we had yet to have a taste of the famous Key Lime Pie. So many choices, but where does one go? We found the perfect spot. Located right on Duval Street, minutes from the Southernmost Beach Resort where we were staying, La Grignote Cafe is a cozy, picturesque breakfast and lunch nook. Everything here is made from scratch. The pie was not overly sweet but tangy, light and refreshing, especially since it’s always hot and humid in the Florida Keys, or so it seems to those who live above the Mason-Dixon line!
The staff were incredibly friendly. The restaurant was open air all around which lent to it’s quaintness. It’s also pet friendly, like most places in Key West. We didn’t have enough time to try more items on their delicious menu, but we were happy that we picked this spot to have a slice of key lime pie. We definitely want to go back to Key West and our first stop will be to La Grignote. It’s a popular spot with the locals and in our brief time spent there, we can see why.
